Okay a little departure from me being a grumpy bastard today.
Kiva is a micro loan place. Basically for people in developing countries to get a small loan (around $US500) in order to build a business.
You don't get any interest back or anything, but if they pay it back (and most of them do), you can re-give that amount to another person.
I tend to like giving to people in agriculture for some weird reason.
Min donation per person is $US25, and say they need $US500, the rest is made up of a bunch of other people.
You can take a look at those I've given cash to at my profile http://www.kiva.org/lender/kaer
I tend to run in phases of giving to charity (me and Lana also sponsor 2 children via World Vision). Normally when I've blown a lot of cash on something frivolous, I feel a little too guilty. Which is why I just gave out a bunch more loans....update on purchase in another post....
For some reason, even though it's a paltry 25 degrees, I've been sweating like a pig.
So I gave up on the beard and shaved it off. It looked like shit anyway. Too lazy to have taken a pic of it.
Been doing a few rides, playing a bit of GTA. Been dragged off to Dusseldorf next week for work.
Oh, and Lana has a new job. Starts 2nd of June. Company is called Adaptris, they do EAI (Enterprise Application Integration). Lana's too hardcore a geek, no front end stuff with these guys, pure backend, hard core techie stuff. Oh, and they used to work with Farmshed for First4Farming. They know of me (but don't know I'm married to Lana), plus there's a couple of guys still over there who know me. Small fucking world ![]()
Tim's staying with us at the moment. He's fine as a houseguest, cooks and cleans. Though he falls asleep at the drop of a hat though.
I was getting very worried about getting hold of GTA IV. The first 6 stores I tried had sold out of pre-orders.
HMV had it, only downside was they weren't doing a midnight launch, and the store only opened at 10 am.
On a side note, I now own a Nintendo Wii, XBOX 360, Nintendo DS, and in the last 2 weeks I bougt a PS3 40gig (rather cheaply) and a PSP. So yah, I now own all the game consoles out there.
Decided to get it for the XBOX 360. Mainly for the exclusive content.
And for the geek bit, I worked on the weekend, so I could take the day off on tuesday...to spend the day playing it.
Pretty cool, I personally thought the graphics were going to be even better than they were, but that's probably just the hype building it up too much for me.
It seems that every 5 years I attempt to grow a beard.
I only worked that out just now, after I decided to give it another go.
Only 2 weeks in, looks like shit. I'm meant to wait until week 6 before I decide if it works for me or not.
Lana's ambivalent about the whole matter.
Itches like hell though. I'll post up a pic when I get to week 6. I was tempted to do that whole daily picture thing, but I'm too lazy.
Bought a Wii Fit game.
Stupid thing said I have the physical fitness of a 50 year.
Then it said I was obese....and then made my mii (cartoon character representation of me) fat.
Stupid machine.
Granted I weigh 104kg, with a BMI of 31.11. Still stupid machine for telling me these things.
